This may have been the best P&F show I saw live so far from and aural/acoustic/Phil goes nuts point of view. I may have the dates mashed a bit but
...
I think I have this right. First were the shows at the Beacon including the snow fest with the Trey full show sit in. That was great.
This was the first show of the run when they moved from the Beacon to the Hammerstein. If you've never been at the venue, it is the room that they used to do Opera and Orchestra recordings in. The acoustics were so pristine and it was clear from watching him that Phil was loving the sound in the room and with the band. Listen to this show and you can see/hear that he didn't want the jams to end. He kept driving the band back through multiple explorations on many titles. 21 minute Unbroken Chain. Half an hour of Other One Space and Feedback (not a technical problem it was a throwback to 1973). And then Phil stopped and took out Big Brown. That's the Alembic modified Guild bass. The quad. The mother of all time and space. He proceeded to take us through Caution and more space. You had to see it/hear it to believe it.

High energy first set! Mellowed out a bit for the second. Sweet Unbroken Chain! Better than the shows I caught in Febuary.

We had a block of 6 seats all the way right (Phil's side) on 1st mezzanine. It was great show with some great rips Tenn Jed, Cumberland, The Playin was

smoking and had us all dancing but All Along the Watchtower was sizzling and I really liked Joan's Turnaround into The Other One which had Larry Campbell on the fiddle and (that is not even listed on the site) it was off the freeking hook and Phil with the wierd vocals got everyone out of their seats.... The Fire was the high point of the show.
There were rumours that Warren and or Trey were joining them later in the weekend but we never felt let down - This was a great show but packed to the gills and a real fire hazard - It looked like another 500 tickets were sold over capacity....
* Phil seemed to have alot of feedback problems with his amp not sure what this was related to.

This current iteration of the Phil band is great. Gotta love the jangly guitars, reminds one of how Dylan's band sounded not too long ago, like when Larry
...
C. was his excellent guitarist. The jams on all these February shows are awesome, and intricate as if these guys had been playing together for quite awhile. Not to mention the colors added by pedal steel and occasional violin (take that, String Cheese!)
This show here is one for all phans of the Jam Gods, although the Gods would be a bit diappointed by the vocals (muffled, yet the occasional acoustic guitar comes through fine, go figure). The Gods say (I'm channeling here) five stars for the show, three for the sound, so put down a three.
